Approximately half of Tanzanians do not participate in oral and dental health screening services, raising concerns about the increase in untreated diseases.
In addition, it has been stated that four out of five children in the country have never undergone dental health screenings, indicating a significant gap in preventive services and oral health education for children.
The figures were revealed at the inaugural Tanzania Dental Expo, which is currently underway in Dar es Salaam, involving participants from ten countries around the world. The exhibition aims to promote the improvement of oral and dental care and promote collaboration between the health sector, development partners and society at large.
