The Longido District Anti-Corruption Bureau (TAKUKURU) has conducted an inspection of various projects in the district worth more than 456 million shillings, and identified shortcomings in some of the projects.
Speaking to reporters, the Arusha Regional PCCB Head, Zawadi Ngailo, said they had managed to save more than seven million shillings that had been paid to the contractor, which was not eligible for payment due to shortcomings identified before the project was completed.
He explained that the contractor had built five stations but none of them were connected to the water service and no taps were installed, but also that the contractor did not lay the pipe network for 7500 meters as required and instead laid it for a distance of only 7254 meters.
