Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended his congratulations to Muslim nations across the world over the grand festivity of Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice), which marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
In his Thursday message, Pezeshkian offered his congratulations to the leaders and people of Muslim states, emphasized that Eid al-Adha represents the most sincere manifestation of worship, serves as a symbol of sacrifice and submission before the Almighty, and marks a day of pride for Prophet Abraham (PBUH) during his divine test.
The Iranian president also expressed hope that, through the blessings of this auspicious occasion, greater unity and cohesion would be nurtured among Muslims, and the Muslim world would witness further pride.
Earlier in the day, Pezeshkian held telephone conversations with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as well as his Tajik and Kazakh counterparts Emomali Rahmon and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where he congratulated the Muslim nations on the arrival of Eid al-Adha.
He emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the three countries.
Eid al-Adha is one of Islam’s holiest festivals celebrated around the world.
It commemorates Prophet Abraham’s acknowledgment of a divine order to sacrifice his son. Upon submitting to God’s will, Ibrahim was exempted from performing the order and was offered a ram to sacrifice instead.
Muslims around the world mark the festival, which comes as the annual Hajj season in Saudi Arabia draws to a close, by sacrificing livestock to be distributed among the needy.
