The government has said it will ensure that food produced and sold in the country is safe for the health of consumers, and that it will take strict action against anyone who disrupts food safety.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Exaud Kigahe, said this in Dar es Salaam during the celebration of World Food Safety Day. He said that to achieve this, the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has already prepared a national plan to respond to food safety emergencies, with the aim of protecting the health of the public and strengthening the country's food systems.
