The government has said it has strengthened the disaster reporting system by establishing strategic areas at regional levels and distributing necessary equipment, to ensure that information is communicated quickly and action is taken in a timely manner.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the Prime Minister's Office, through the disaster unit, has established a system for collecting information from the village level through existing disaster committees to the National level, to facilitate communication and the provision of immediate assistance.

He explained that at the village and district levels, the District Commissioner is the chairman of the disaster committee, and when he fails to cope with the situation, the information is escalated to the regional and national levels.

The Prime Minister said this today, June 5, 2025, while responding to a question by Momba MP, Condester Sichwale, regarding the Government's statement on how to deal with disasters in the country.
