The government has planned to introduce income tax relief for small transport vehicles including two-wheeled motorcycles (bodaboda), three-wheeled motorcycles (bajaji) and cargo vehicles weighing not more than 500 kg (such as Guta), through improvements in indicative tax rates.
"According to Table No. 1 of the budget proposals, the new tax assessment procedure will allow this group to easily implement the law while reducing their tax burden," said the Minister of Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba.
Dr. Mwigulu said the goal is to provide relief to small entrepreneurs who rely on these entities to generate income, while also increasing efficiency in government revenue collection.
