Russia Highlights Iran’s Commitment to NPT, Condemns Israeli Strikes

Russia’s Foreign Ministry emphasized Iran’s “clear statements about its unaltered commitment to the obligations of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and its readiness to renew contacts with the United States to work out possible solutions,” adding that such remarks eliminate any doubts regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.

The ministry also affirmed its support for Iran’s position, stating, “Moscow supports this stand and firmly believes that the settlement that is being sought can only be reliably achieved through diplomacy and negotiations.”

Russia also called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to submit “as soon as possible a detailed written report… with an objective and unvarnished assessment of damage” to Iran’s nuclear sites.

In a separate statement on Tuesday, the ministry strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s assaults on Iran, describing them as illegal and a threat to global stability.

“The continuing intensive attacks by Israel on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites are illegal in terms of international law and create unacceptable threats to international security and push the world to a nuclear catastrophe,” the statement read.

Moscow noted that global condemnation of Israeli actions exposed its diplomatic isolation, saying that support for Tel Aviv came “only from those states who are in fact co-participants and act for opportunistic reasons.”

The Kremlin reiterated its readiness to mediate between Iran and Israel and confirmed that Russia’s earlier offer to store Iranian enriched uranium remains valid.
