The President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has announced the Government's commitment to making Pemba a hub for investment, trade and inclusive development that will benefit all citizens.
Addressing citizens and investors at the Zanzibar Investment Festival 2025 launched today at the Maziwang'ombe Free Investment Zone, North Pemba Region, President Mwinyi said the Government is committed to ensuring that investment becomes a catalyst for economic development on the island.
Dr. Mwinyi explained that the Government aims to attract local and foreign investors with a long-term vision, in order to bring about real change for the people of Pemba. He stressed that the investments to be made will focus on providing employment for the youth, increasing the income of individuals and the nation as a whole, along with promoting sustainable development that directly affects the people.
In addition, President Mwinyi explained that the Government has passed a special law requiring investors to participate in social services in the areas they invest in. The aim of the law is to ensure that citizens in areas close to investment projects directly benefit from services such as education, health and good infrastructure.
Following the success of the festival, President Mwinyi announced that the Investment Festival will be an annual event, and following that schedule, the Zanzibar Investment Summit 2026 will be held in Unguja Island. This is a sign of building a lasting culture of promoting investment in the Zanzibar Islands through the participation of the private sector and citizens.
