Former Zambian President Edgar Lungu has died at the age of 68. Reports of his death have been confirmed by his Patriotic Front (PF) party, his daughter Tasila Lungu and the family's lawyer.
Tasila said that the former president, who had been under medical care in recent weeks in South Africa for an undisclosed illness, died today, Thursday at 12:00 am.
Lungu led Zambia from 2015 to 2021, becoming one of the most influential leaders in the country's politics.
