In 1907, in the United States, there was a collapse accident at the Monongah Mine in West Virginia, approximately 250 men lost their lives and left more than 1,000 children fatherless.
Following the disaster, in 1972, then-US President Richard Nixon officially recognized the disaster day as a national holiday, and the celebrations gradually continued to be held in various countries around the world.
