Ilala District Commissioner, Edward Mpogolo has promised to closely supervise the issuance of 10 percent council loans which is the implementation of the government's goals of economically empowering various social groups including women, youth, and people with disabilities.

Speaking at the Ilala District Women Entrepreneurs Forum held today, June 14, 2025 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, DC Mpogolo said that this loan is part of the Sixth Phase Government's major strategies which aim to empower women to be financially strong and economically independent.

"The Sixth Phase Government has given us firm instructions to ensure that these loans reach the target groups, especially women, youth, and people with disabilities. We will continue to closely monitor their implementation with transparency and fairness without favoritism or bias," said DC Mpogolo.

Dar es Salaam City Director, Elihuruma Mabelya, added that the city has allocated more than 5 billion shillings for loans to women as part of the government's efforts to strengthen the role of women in the national economy.

Mabelya also stressed that preparations for the official issuance of loans to approved groups have been completed and the process of issuing the loans will comply with new laws, regulations and the banking system.

The Ilala Women Entrepreneurs Forum held today brought together women from various cadres, including those who have served in various positions in the central government, including former Finance Minister, Zakia Meghji.
