In a move to address the wave of accidents that continue to claim the lives of Tanzanians, Parliament has amended the law by removing the responsibility for coordinating land transport safety from the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) and officially handing it over to the Road Safety Force.
The amendments have been passed through the Miscellaneous Laws Amendment Bill, which was submitted and passed in parliament, and is now awaiting signature by the President to become a full law.
This measure aims to increase efficiency, accountability and reduce accidents by strengthening road safety management through direct safety mechanisms.
