A total of 1,200 tonnes of rice seeds are expected to be produced by the Tanzania Agricultural Seed Agency (ASA) at the Kilangila farm in Kilosa district. This is part of efforts to achieve the target of producing 3,500 tonnes of seeds in the country, in collaboration with seed production investors in other areas.
Visiting the farms, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Stephen Nindi, urged ASA to develop partnerships between the public and private sectors to increase production of 16 strategic crops and meet the seed needs of farmers.
