Muhimbili National Hospital has said that it needs between 150 and 180 bottles of blood per day to serve patients in need, but it has been a challenge to reach that level. Currently, the hospital only receives about 50 bottles per day, a level that does not meet daily needs.
Muhimbili National Hospital Blood Mobilization Officer, Richard Masam, said this in Dar es Salaam during a blood donation exercise aimed at encouraging citizens to come forward in large numbers to donate blood voluntarily.
In the exercise, Jefag was among the institutions that came forward and responded to the call, as a step to support the hospital's efforts in saving the lives of patients in urgent need of blood.
