Finally, the white smoke of the Tanzania Teachers' Union (CWT) election has been seen in Dodoma, after Suleiman Ikomba was declared the new President of the party for another term, defeating the former President, Leah Ulaya, by 608 votes to 260.
The election, which lasted from Monday, June 9, 2025 and concluded at dawn today, June 10, has also established a new leadership line-up where Joseph Misalaba has been elected Secretary General and Nashon Kidudu holds the position of Treasurer.
It is a new beginning for leadership within CWT, aimed at advancing the interests of teachers in the country.
