Israeli forces have fatally shot a Palestinian man during a raid in the southern West Bank amid heightened tensions over the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, where more than 54,700 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed so far.
The official Palestinian WAFA news agency, citing security and medical sources, reported that 30-year-old Mustafa Ali Ismail Talloul was shot and killed on Saturday evening when Israeli troops stormed a neighborhood near the controversial separation wall in the town of ad-Dhahiriya, located 22 kilometers (13 miles) southwest of the city of al-Khalil, and opened fire.
The sources added that two people sustained injuries, one critically, during confrontations.
Hours earlier, Israeli forces arrested at least 11 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank in raids that included a second closure notice for Al Jazeera’s office in Ramallah.
Local sources said Israeli troops broke into the Qatari broadcaster’s office in central Ramallah and posted an official notice, extending its forced shutdown for another 60 days.
The military first raided the network’s office last September, ordering a 45-day closure, seizing equipment and documents, and banning the use of its vehicles.
Since then, Israeli authorities have extended the ban repeatedly, with the previous renewal issued in April.
Separately, Israeli forces arrested five young men near a spring in the town of Nahalin.
In the southern West Bank region of Masafer Yatta, near al-Khalil, two brothers were detained while herding livestock in the village of al-Mufaqarah.
Another man was arrested in the town of al-Shuyukh, northeast of al-Khalil.
In the northern city of Jenin, Israeli troops raided a house in the Wadi Burqin neighborhood and detained three men.
Israel has ramped up its aggression against Palestinians across the West Bank since October 7, 2023, when it launched its devastating war on the Gaza Strip.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands of others injured by Israeli settlers or troops across the West Bank since the onset of the war.
