Iran’s president, Malaysian PM call for global support for Palestine

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have denounced the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, calling for strong global support for the Palestinian nation and their legitimate cause.

During a telephone conversation with the Malaysian leader on Thursday, Pezeshkian extended his congratulations to the Southeast Asian nation over the grand festivity of Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice).

The Iranian president also called upon Muslims worldwide to collectively assume responsibility and take action in support of the oppressed in the Islamic world.

“On this great Eid, Muslim nations and governments must raise their voices in international forums in unison to bring into light the plight of the people of Gaza, who are currently being subjected to the most severe and cruel crimes in history. They must also expose the true nature of the so-called advocates of human rights and peace through condemnation of these crimes,” Pezeshkian said.

He also sincerely appreciated the Malaysian prime minister’s long-term vision and valuable approach toward the enhancement and promotion of relations among Muslim countries, especially in terms of support for oppressed Palestinians.

For his part, Ibrahim commended the resolute and honorable positions of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian president in defense of downtrodden Palestinians and denunciation of the Zionist regime’s atrocities.

“We, along with Iran, will spare no effort to stop these crimes and restore peace and security to the oppressed people of Gaza,” the Malaysian prime minister stated.

The two sides also emphasized the need for more effective steps aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.

At least 54,677 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 125,530 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.

Presidents urge promotion of Iran-Tajikistan ties

Pezeshkian also held a separate telephone conversation with his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rahmon, where he emphasized the need for the promotion of bilateral relations and the implementation of existing agreements between the two countries.

He congratulated the government and people of Tajikistan on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Pezeshkian pointed to the historical, cultural, and linguistic bonds between the two countries and stressed the importance of enhancing economic, cultural, and political ties.

The Tajik president, for his part, extended his congratulations to the government and people of Iran on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, stating that Dushanbe is committed to deepening ties with Tehran in all spheres.

Iranian, Kazakh presidents stress expansion of bilateral ties

Moreover, Pezeshkian and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan emphasized the advancement of relations between Tehran and Astana.

During a phone conversation on Thursday, the two presidents exchanged felicitations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Pezeshkian described the Hajj and Eid al-Adha as symbols of unity, sympathy, and solidarity within the Muslim world, stating that Iran considers all Islamic nations, especially Kazakhstan, as brothers.

He also expressed hope that this blessed occasion would further strengthen bonds of brotherhood between their nations.

In response, President Tokayev emphasized Iran’s importance as a brotherly nation for Kazakhstan and noted plans for a high-ranking Kazakh delegation to visit Tehran in the near future.

Tokayev also invited Pezeshkian for an official visit to Kazakhstan.
