The commander of Iran’s border police says Iranian forces have shot down 44 Israeli drones and quadcopters along the borders over the past 48 hours.
Brigadier General Ahmad-Ali Goudarzi said in a statement on Sunday that the unmanned aerial vehicles attempted to breach Iranian airspace along multiple border regions but were “detected and destroyed by vigilant and courageous border guards.”
He also reaffirmed that Iranian forces remain fully prepared to control and secure the nation’s frontiers, warning that any intrusion by “terrorist groups, armed gangs, or hostile elements” will be met with a swift and forceful response.
Israel launched its aggression against Iran by striking both civilian and military sites across the capital, Tehran, and other major cities in the early hours of Friday.
On Friday night, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) launched its retaliatory operation, True Promise III, against the Israeli regime by firing a barrage of missiles toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
The strikes have so far targeted a series of strategic Israeli military and industrial sites, including oil refineries and electricity grids in Haifa, where fires reportedly broke out as a result on Saturday night.
Iran has vowed an even more powerful and crushing response if the Israeli regime continues its aggression against the country.
