Passengers traveling by train from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam have narrowly escaped death after a Scania truck with registration number T 291 DMB hit the train and the truck overturned.
Tabora Regional Police Commander, SACP Richard Abwao, said the cause of the accident that occurred in the Miemba area in Mbugani County was the negligence of the truck driver who, despite being warned by the train, refused to pass through the railway and road junction.
The driver of the truck carrying drinks from Mbuguni to Urambo district has survived, along with two passengers in the vehicle.
In another development, passengers traveling on the train have requested the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) to help them find alternative transportation so they can continue their journey.
